Ciao, Francesco. Thanks for writing. I am glad you found my site. I should probably tell you that most people here in the states have no opinion of the mattanza because they don't know what it is, and never heard of it. Some people have read my book, "Mattanza" and seen the slaughter through my eyes. Perhaps they would care to comment. Fimmaker Bill Livingston made an Emmy-winning documentary, "The Italians," which features the Favignana tonnara. National Public Radio reporter Sylvia Poggioli did a story about the Favignana tonnara, once, still available on their website archives. I was a guest on NPR's "Living on Earth," a nationally syndicated radio show, to discuss themes in the book. (That show's transcript is still available online also.) There is a real-life mattanza scene in the movie "Stromboli." Some people might have seen that. Perhaps you could use this comment page as your forum. Start a new thread and ask your questions here!
