Italian government ships picked up and brought to Sicily 703 immigrants rescued at sea. 454 arrived at the port of Pozzallo along with two cadavers. Some ten of these immigrants were wounded. Two women were pregnant. Three people had traumatic wounds including a bullet in an arm. Police are working to identify the traffickers on the four rubber rafts bringing the immigrants. .
Another 249 immigrants were brought to Messina. For four days the hundreds were trapped on the 20-meter fishing boat stranded in the waters off Egypt picked up by the Coast Guard ship Dattilo they reached Messina at 2 p.m. local time. The immigrants were mostly Egyptians. but in the group were also Syrians, Iraqis, Sudanese and Yemeni people. Of the 249, a full 118 of them were minors including two newborns, the youngest 40 days old.
