Bernadette, one of the hundreds saved Wednesday by the non profit German and French rescue ship the Aquarius, gave birth to a baby boy around 5 p.m.. When it was learned the mother had gone into labor the ship went full steam ahead towards Sardinia so the child could be born on land, but the boy was born in good health on board ship. David, the father,named the child Destine`-Alex, in part in honor of the ship's captain, Alex Moroz. It was the first child born aboard the ship. According to custom, Captain Moroz presented the little family with Destine-Alex's birth certificate and a hundred euros.
