I have to wonder why this story has not appeared in the New York Times or any mainstream U.S. publication. I have been reading about it for months in the Italian papers, and so the Times's Rome bureau must know about it. Instead they got scooped by the Washington Blade, a gay-oriented paper, because the idealistic and courageous anti-mafia governor of Sicily is openly gay. That's why this story of modern-day imperialism made the news here.
